Question Blogs and RSS

I'm seeing a lot about RSS in the last few days and it seems to be connected to blogging somehow. I don't understand how yet, but I'm going to learn. Amongst all the software available at HostGator is there anything that does anything with RSS? Does any of the blog software help me create a RSS feed?

(I'm not really interested in public blogging here. I figure I'll be doing the "blogging" on at least one of my sites in order to create news updates delivered through RSS for subscribers.)

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure exactly what you want to do, but in Fantastico there are several blog platforms to choose from. All blogs will have a RSS feed. Here is a site you might want to visit for more information. Also I just got this , it is a new course that is just full of information on RSS.

Default Re: Blogs and RSS

Blogging has nothing to do with RSS and vice versa...

RSS(Rich Site Summary) is a method of showing someone elses news(or articles or BLOG summaries) via structured XML called RSS on your site....

RSS has 3 main parts(every item(news,article...) in RSS that is)
TITLE
DESCRIPTION
LINK

So one RSS could look like this on your site...

(title)
New plans for resellers
(description)
HG has decided to offer some new plans to resellers...
(link)
http://www.hostgator.com/somelink.php

This is just a news SUMMARY on your site...so when the user clicks on the LINK hi/she is redirected to HG's site to read the whole news....

hope I made this clear....

RSS was designed to attract customers to one site VIA the site that displays RSS of the first one....

for start try google + syndic8 (exactly like that)
