I'm having problems getting a new Wordpress install to work with images. Although images upload properly, they cannot be accessed by WP to be displayed, from the directories in which they are automatically placed. Neither can a web browser open them:
http://vrblog.wholereality.com/wp-co...a_blog_sm3.jpg This comes up with a permissions error, and also a 404 error. Perhaps this is related to WP not being able to access? I've double-checked the permissions, and they appear correct. The only htaccess files are empty. Any other ideas? I'm new at this, so apologies if this is simple, but I've searched both WP and HG forums with no clear answer yet. Thanks! |

Do you have hotlink protection turned on?

No, hotlink protection is turned off. I tried turning it on, then off, but to no avail.

JimC,
I went ahead and looed at this for you and the issue was file permissions on the upload directory and directories underneath it. I went ahead and corrected them for you and the image you linked in the first post now loads without issue. Please keep in mind that directories need to be mode 755.

Thank you for the quick help, it works great now. I guess double-checking permissions myself wasn't useful when following wrong instructions. (And sorry for the cross-post; dumb mistake on my part.)
