Hi Guys,
I know you guys are working to move everyone off the 'old billing system' to the new one - but its been going on for some time and Im still split among the two systems. A bit bothersome when it comes to doing my paperwork/filling. Anyway, that is just a rant, now for my suggestion. Would be great if upon creating a new account - one could choose the option of consolidating the packages and choosing the consolidation date (godaddy does this with their domains). I have had the above done manually before, but would be great to do it myself and especially for a new package when I signup through the new billing system. Would just take the package fee, workout the difference to the consolidation date and charge me that instead. I have LOTS of reseller accounts with HG and its easier for me to get ONE invoice on the 1st of every month instead of several split throughout the month. Please look into it - would really help me (and im sure many others) out

Hi osirion,
First of all, thank you for being such a loyal customer for so long! At this point we've moved 99% of our customer base into the new billing system. You are in that 1% that didn't get moved yet, because I didn't feel like your account was safe enough to move in an automated fashion. We'll be moving your account (and that remaining 1%) over the next week. HG employees used to make a habit of putting notations in account details fields (like a note in a username column), and from an automated migration perspective that can cause some confusion. We are going to be able to work around that though, we just don't want to cause any trouble for our customers who were in that 1%. Now as far as prorating package payments so that they are all renewed on the same day... that is something we've wanted to do for a long time. I'm sure I'll be able to work something out very soon (but sometime after the domain implementation). Once you are imported into GatorBill, you can make payments in advance to credit, so invoices that are generated in the future will be paid automatically. Some of our imported customers who have a lot of accounts are already making use of that. We will still be implementing your idea regardless of that functionality though. |

Ok, bringing this post up from the dead.
I feel HG has moved a step backwards with the new billing system! I was finally moved completely from the old system to the new one this previous month and find that I now have a ton of more paperwork because of this new system. With the old system, my many accounts / services with HG were all charged on the 1st on a SINGLE invoice. Now, on the new system - while they are all still charged on the 1st of each month - they are all seperate. This means I have to print 20 invoices each month instead of just one! I am also assuming my cc gets charged 20 times instead of a single charge! PLEASE HG! FIX THIS - SOON!!! |

GatorDrew, who seemed to be handling most of the promises made here for billing system improvements and innovations (this being only one of several), hasn't been heard from for quite a while now.
Knowing the propensity for bean counters and pencil pushers to cling quite rigidly and often vehemently to their well-established and long-favoured methods (usually the most labour intensive ones in support of the eye-shade industry) I'm inclined to suspect foul play. |

Just kidding, of course.
![]() Well, mostly just kidding. One of Drew's last posts in this "Suggestions" forum did seem like some of the pressures were weighing just a little bit heavy on his shoulders. As I recall it went something like: "If you users and critics were all I had to be concerned about, ..." So his wellbeing actually was of some real concern. Please pass along my best regards if you're taliking to him. And tell him I still think he's our best hope for breaking free from some of those old rigid practices for handling invoices and payments. Their inherent limitiations (like rigidly fixed invoice dates and subscription amounts) just aren't gonna work well once the new HG registrar system is in place with all of its related accounting for varying amounts added to and subtracted from account totals at highly variable times. But I'm sure he knows that already. |
