Default Billing maintenance notification

Apparently billing is down right now due to maintenance, but I didn't know that and subsequently sent a ticket.

I think that you could cut down on tickets / chat sessions (during planned / un-planned downtime) if you let us know that a portion of the site was not working because it was being updated / repaired.


Just a message on the page would work for many people, I assume -- or just completely disable the page altogether with a message -- that would be even better.

Thanks for your suggestion.

We can definitely work on implementing this. Maintenance to our billing system or the system being down is exceedingly rare, which is probably why the downtime was not announced.

I'll check into what happened, though, and see what we can do to make the process better for our customers.

I spoke to our CTO about this today and wanted to provide you with an update.

The maintenance you saw was actually a temporary problem with the billing system that was fixed within about 10 minutes of us becoming aware of the problem. When our billing system goes down, it is usually because of something like that (and is usually fixed just about that quickly), so we don't post any maintenance notifications.

If we were to take our billing system down for any sort of extended amount of time, we'd definitely do what we're able to in order to let our customers know about that.
