Default Billing and moving my wiki

Hi,

I have two questions.

1. Do you have online billing? How does it work...are there screenshots>

2. I have an OddMuse wiki setup. It runs on a single script in the cgi-bin dir on my current host, but I could not set it up because it needed access to a CGI directory that I had no access to in order to set it up, and perhaps a server reboot (not sure about that). Twiki and PHPwiki, which you supply, don't have wysiwyg editing, which I have set up on oddmuse and is crucial for this particular part of the site. Plus I've put in a lot of cusomization time on it to get it how I want it. Will it be difficult to move the wiki over?

OddMuse stuff is at
http://www.oddmuse.org/cgi-bin/wiki

the wiki in question, which is not yet live, is at
http://way.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl

Thanks. HostGator looks great, and I'll probably move if I can get these quexsstions answered positively.

Thanks,
Rich Rath

1) Hostgator.com uses ModernBill.
Link: https://secure.hostgator.com/billing/
ModernBill Website: http://www.moderngigabyte.net/modernbill/demo.htm

I am not sure about your 2nd question.

Thanks for the reply...I looked over the billing system and it looks fine. my current provider sucks in this department and it is quite a hassle. I chatted to someone in tech support and they don't seem to think moving the wiki will be a problem.

I am wondering if I can get along without shell access now.

You will get a cgi-bin from hostgator (i'm almost 100% sure). And you dont need shell acess to host a wiki.

I run MediaWiki (the real wiki software) at http://www.TheFishWiki.com. Feel free to PM me if you have questions or need help.

Shell does make it easier, but just about everything can be done in cPanel. The stuff you can't do in cPanel you can aways ask support to do for you, but I doubt that there is anything you will actually need.

Dedciated servers come with shell access, BTW.

I just love how Serra pitches dedicated servers. Just kind of sneaks it in whenever he can....lol

Have to agree with you though. If I can ever get more than 2 paying customers, then I might start thinking about getting one. Heck, the customers I have now arent even paying my monthly reseller bill.....maybe I should raise prices....lol
