Default Best way to secure a directory on Hostgator?

Hi

I have a linux reseller account. On one site (not the root site) I need to password protect a directory. What's the best way to do it on HostGator? .htaccess? .htpasswd?

All suggestions welcome.

You can password protect the directory using the "Index Manager" within Cpanel. This will modify your .htaccess accordingly and is usually sufficient.
