Just follow the Oxwall instructions for installation on your own website.
As an alternative to first unpacking and then uploading all of the Oxwall software files and folders to your public_html folder via FTP, you can use the File Manager (found in the Files section of the Hostgator cPanel) to upload the zipped installation package file (ow_1.0b5.zip) and unzip it on your HG server. Either way, it's quite simple. |

In addition to Richards post, be aware that the cron job that they stipulate to run every minute, is not allowed on a HG shared account.

If you're refering to the 15-minute interval restriction on shared server cron jobs, see this discussion in Oxwall's own forums. Basically, it may cause some operations (mass mailing, updating profile's online status, buying memberships, etc.) to be slow.
Probably not a big deal unless your site is very busy, in which case you'd probably need to upgrade your HG account for several reasons anyhow. |
