Basic Dedicated Server Questions

Hello!!

We have a couple of sites hosted on shared hosting and I have brought other sites owners over to Host Gator.

Quick question on the basic dedicated server that you offer as I have a friend who is looking for a dedicated server and cant afford the standard package quite yet, basic for starters is in her range.

Relaying question from her (a non technical type)

Having never used one would there be a noticeable difference speed wise between a site on shared hosting and it on a basic dedicated server.

And do they (HG) have a list of sites that we can look at that are hosted on a basic dedicated server, or could they provide a couple of site url's so we can see how they run. Would prefer a site that has a decent sized forum to look at as thats the big part of our site.

Sure, there will be a HUGE difference, specially if you are on a relatively crowded "shared" server.

I do remember that HG had a page where they had some example sites, but it seems I can't find it now. I'll update, if I do.

We do have a client's page for shared servers but not for dedicated servers. You may want to look through the dedicated hosting section of the forums and many of our users have their domain name in the signature. We cannot give out customer's account information without them saying it is ok for us to do so.

You will see a large increase in speed if you are on a dedicated server due to our being the only one using it. There is never the chance of another user using an excessive amount of connections.
