Yesterday I got an email that my bandwidth limit was exceed. Knowing that my site only gets about 3,000 -4,000 visitors a month and we do not host any media files I immediately knew something was wrong.
I have a level 1 VPS so I have vz panel. I looked at my bandwidth stats and realized that I had only used about 30gb of outgoing bandwidth (to users) and had over 350gb on incoming bandwidth (to the server). Some days had over 40gb of incoming bandwidth. Two things, first my VPS only had 10Gb of storage so even if users were uploading then my disc space would be full, Secondly my plan only comes with 250Gb of bandwidth so I don't know how that could have gotten over the three hundred mark. I have no problem upgrading my plan if I'm actually using my resources, but I don't feel that is the case. Something seem wrong. I have talked to support with limited success. I was hoping someone on the forums would have some suggestions. |

How are you "talking to support"? If you are using Live Chat I would suggest opening a ticket instead and ask that the issue be assigned to an admin to have a look. They would be better able to help you than we would since they can actually look at the server logs.

Rick is correct. You'll need to open an official ticket to support AT hostgator.com , if you're having issues with the ticket please PM me the ticket number and I can investigate it. Thank you.

Well my monthly limit was reset yesterday so I guess I'm fine for now. I'm looking a installing a bandwidthd or mrtg like a chat technician initially suggested. Then I can identify the source and see if this is something that can be prevented (like hot-linking) or If I really do need to upgrade my plan.
