I just got a shared account and so far so good. Quick setup, good response time, lots of features
I am considering a dedicated box for a number of sites I have and I had a question concerning backup options. The general recommendation seems to be purchase an additonal drive for the server and backup your sites to that. That solution is good except for the additional expense of the hard drive. I'm lucky in that I have a very fast connection to the internet via Verizon FIOS( 15mbs down/2mbs up), so I would like to see if there was a viable option to backup my server (both data and settings) to my local workstation. CPANEL had a number of backup options, but they seemed to involve dumping to an FTP server. Also, what make your dedicated solution attractive, is the fact that it's a "managed" solution. I'm pretty familiar with Cpanel and managing domains and emails. I don't wish to monitor the system 7X24, install security updates, lock the server down, and perform low level maintenance. What services does "managed" include or not include? Thanks!

You could use a cron to rsync to your local server each night/week/whatever. Because it's rsync, the first sync may take a bit of time but the rest would be very fast.
