Default Automate a full backup...

I want to automate the backup process for my site instead of manually doing it through CPanel. Is there a command that I can use to generate a full backup? I would like to create a simple script that creates the backup then FTP's it to a remote server.

Thanks,
Eric

This can be done with a Cron job. I'm not certain of the exact syntax required, but I am sure there is info on the web. I'll see what I can find. If anyone else knows how to set up the Cron, feel free to chime in.

I found this which seems to be exactly what you want. I havent run it myself so am not sure as to how well it works.

Edit: ignore that, the file 404's

Edit: found another copy of the php file:

Unfortunately my ftp server runs on a port other than 21 and I don't think that the cpbackup support that...

It looks like I can first create a backup in the home directory with:
$params = "dest=homedir&email=$notifyemail&submit=Genera te Backup";

And then write the ftp part to my server....

One thing you might have to take into account, the backup isnt created instantly (as far as i can recall), so you might need to set up a cron to create the backup then schedule the ftp an hour or 2 later.

Yeah, I thought about that. My thought was that I would just compare the filesize every 5 seconds or so and when they are the same, it would be safe to assume that the backup is complete...make sense?
