Default audi.websitewelcome.com fsck /home/

Hello Gator Clients,

Audi.websitewelcome.com rebooted today and kernel panicked. Upon reboot it is currently undergoing a file system check for /home

We are monitoring this closely and we will have service returned as quickly as possible. Currently there is no ETA.

I apologize if I wasn't clear. Basically when the file system gets damaged by continuous use sometimes it becomes necessary to put everything back in order.

The check is underway and the ETA on the server is probably around 20-30 minutes from now.

Are you saying that the failure of the file system on Audi.websitewelcome.com has taken down every site you host? And how is a customer supposed to gather that from either of your messages? Is Audi.websitewelcome.com your primary domain controller or something? And you have no redundancy?

Audi.websitewelcome.com only hosts a very small percentage of sites we host. There is some corruption on the /home partition. In order to keep this server running well, we had to run a file system check.

I've already fixed a couple of dozen errors, which isn't that many. If we didn't correct this problem, the file system would be read only and there would be lost inodes in the partition.

The check is currently at around 26%. I suspect we can have this server up and running in about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the update!

Big question....will all of my files in the 11 websites I have on audi magically reappear when the file check has completed???

I can see my db's, but NO email accounts or files in public_html???

How does a client know what the name of the server is they are running on? Is this published somewhere?

AFT,

if you are on a windows machine, open a dos window and type tracert yourdomainname.com.

the last hop will be your server name (unless you have paid for a dedicated IP).

this is a method I have used...
