We have recently signed up with AOL for feedback reports. I personally never realised how many AOL users there were using our services.
Whenever you forward your mail to your AOL account, it makes AOL believe that these emails originated from your server at HostGator. When you click to report the message as SPAM, it reports the server you have at HostGator that is hosting your domain. We have seen many instances of this occuring and believe it could influence AOL's ratios to block legitimate mail originating from HostGator. Whenever we see a large amount of SPAM feedback responses from AOL for a particular domain, we will disable the forwarders to prevent the server from being blacklisted due to a customer reporting their own mailserver (HostGator) as a SPAM source. If you have any questions about this, please email rblabuse@hostgator.com Thanks, Daniel C HostGator Abuse Administrator |

What will happen to mail being forwarded when the forwarders are turned off if the mail being forwarded is a "forward only" email address and isn't being stored on our server? |

On the ones that we disable, I'll create a mailbox on the domain to get the mail. If it's a catchall that's forwarding, then all mail will be held in that mailbox.
