ARGGGGG host gator decides to take down 10 of my sites

I got this message in my email which went into junk mail and I never had a chance to respond...

Hello,
Your account has been suspended for containing pirated games from a BitTorrent site. Since it's highly doubtful you're the owner of these games, they have been since removed from your account and your account is now flagged for termination.

I'm not aware of ANY Illegal content on my server... I HOST 10 websites at this time and it's now been over 4 hours ince my sites are down and NOBODY is responding to my emails... I can't believe a company would make 10 websites disappear without any notice ON A ASSUMPTION that there is pirated content on my site which again I"M NOT EVEN AWARE off!!!! I've talk to live chat and talked to someone on the phone and nobody can help me except the abuse dept which is not responding... I NEED MY SITE TO GET BACK UP how can I trust your company ever again to run my sites with service like this???

I can't belive this is a professional pcompany... how can I trust them again.... arggg

I can't just sit here while all my sites are down... it's so frustraighting I have a forum up with 500 members as well... arggggggg damn

sorry just very annoyed that you're paying for a service and nobody cares especially when you put so much effort into developing your websites...

none at all... I have a few websites which are all professional sites... this is killing me... you work so hard on your sites and you just don't expect this from your hosting company... they didn't provide any details or a way for me to fix the issue and now I'm down for 24 hours with no response yet... as soon as I find a another good provider I'm switching and I will no longer be a customer here you can't run a business when your hosting provider does this to you.

Make sure you don't keep replying to your ticket saying "where are you" or "please help" etc...everytime you reply you get sent back to end of the queue.

Dunno, but it may be a start: if there were many of them, the site could have been seen as a torrent site.

There is nothing that directly bans the linking to or the hosting of torrents. As per section 7 of the TOS though:

Violations of the Terms of Service will waive the refund policy.
7.) Resource Usage
User may not:
e) Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client.
f) Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities

From what I can speculate, they have no grounds based on the TOS to suspend a site for hosting a torrent because (e) is about running a tracker or client which is not a .torrent file. Part f is a little different though, because just hosting a .torrent could be considered file-sharing/p2p.

I did see that the tech said that "Your account has been suspended for containing pirated games from a BitTorrent site. Since it's highly doubtful you're the owner of these games, they have been since removed from your account." My questions are what were the actual files on your site, a .torrent link or the actual game that was downloaded, how Richard knows that it is pirated and from a BitTorrent site, and how he finds himself omnipotent enough to know that you are not a licensed owner of said game and that is not your legal backup. I would also know if it was confirmed that the said file was actually a copyrighted game.

this is nothing, you had 10 sites~!!!
I had 4000 sites on my server and they shut it down for a phishing site without asking for a permision!!!!!
hostgator is so cheap!!!! cheap quality but expensive prices!!!!!

my advise to hostgator : do somthing about your support before people burn your company down!!

you can seek for dedicated server or shared hosting at WHT forum. that allow bittorent and game hosting. seen at there before. hope this help

Your issue isn't a support issues, it is an abuse issue. Plus being on a dedicated server, HG doesn't normally shut down whole servers because one account was bad, I suspect there is a lot more to this than you are telling us.
