I'm trying to figure out is asp.net and windows hosting is for me. I'd like to stay with HostGator. I've been happy, and it's the devil I know!
Is anyone reselling windows hostings with ASP.NET & MS SQL server database from their dedicated server here? (I'll admit I'm confused if to use MS Expression Web that the database has to be MS SQL server or if mySQL would work fine...) The site is small, traffic would be light. One SQL database ought to be enough. HostGator keeps promising but so far.... Even if HostGator starts to offer windows hosting of its own, I'd be happy to get rid of some of the admin duties (eg. backups, dealing with HostGator when problems occur, security, and help with getting some tools installed) and work more on content. I would be willing to do some of the lighter stuff like set up e-mail accounts and such. I'd deal with club members. I would like the site setup with the default MS login/logout ASP.NET database as well. If HostGator does start to offer windows hosting I'd move my current site from linux to windows and use that account to receive backups and for testing. Periodically I'd like the backups restored there so I could sleep at night knowing that the backups really work. Could someone put enough customers like me on a dedictaed server to make to make this work? Is this crazy or reasonable??

To answer one question, you don't need Windows hosting for Expression Web.
Why are you looking to sell Windows hosting instead of Linux? Do you have a website or script that needs it? What is the "Default login/logout asp.net database"?

I don't want to sell, I want to buy....
MS has a application done in ASP.NET & MS Sql server that you can use to set up a login system. Part of the headache I'm trying to get rid of is spending hours figuring out how to download and install tools which I will install one time... I have one site that I'm doing so it's an awful big time wasted in my mind... |

Are you really considering switching to windows to setup your simple login system? People posted tons of php scripts and CMSes that will take care of it for you.
You're going to get a lot more headaches working with Windows hosting and plesk than you will just setting up one of those once.

The grass is always greener...
I'm blundering around trying to figure out the options. It's not JUST login of course. I just am curious as to what kinds of intermediate levels of support might be available. I quit coding when Smalltalk went under and was replaced by java Java JAVA and became a project manager. You know, coding is real work. :-) |

Are you planning to run a J2EE/jboss/tomcat java setup?
