Default Anyone else having trouble with FTP?

The upload rate has been very slow the last few weeks. Also, I used to be able to connect through SFTP but that is no more. And now when I attempt to transfer a lot of files, it ends up timing out and losing the connection to the server.

If you go to http://hostgator.com/myip.php and then send your IP address in an email to support@hostgator.com with your domain name and any ftp credentials you are using we will check out any potential connectivity problems between you and the server or any problems with your account in particular.

Thanks for your business!

Dear Customer,
There appear to be some communication issues with the interconnect to cox.net, and also further down the line on cox.net:

The "Icmp checksum is wrong" notifications indicate possible problems.

Additionally, try using your FTP client in passive mode, and see if that helps.
This is what I received, in the ticket reply. I'm not sure what the Icmp checksum is about. Is that something with my ISP, is there anything I can do to fix it? Also, I always use passive mode.

Thanks!

Also, this only happens when upload a bunch of files. If I am just uploading one file it works fine, but every week I need to upload about 400 files and it times out about 10% through.

I'm connecting through cox.net without any problems. Try using Filezilla as your FTP client. http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla

I don't have any problem even uploading updates to WordPress.

I've tried multiple clients and it happens to all of them.

I usually upload through Rapidweaver a site creator I use for galleries, but i've resorted to exporting and having to upload a few files at a time :-/

I'm not sure what I need to do to fix this, or what this ICMP error message is.

From the traceroute, I assume it's from the server to you, it looks like it's a network/router problem associated with or near your ISP. If that's true, it's out of your hands. An FTP client that can resume a failed download could help. I would suggest you try to upload from another location/ISP and see if that helps. Also, I would email the traceroute to your ISP and ask them why this is happening.

Ahh, I see. That's a good idea, I didn't even think about that. I will be contacting them tomorrow, hopefully they can resolve the issue.

Thanks again!
