I created a hosting account, put it on a plan, and the domain still shows up as unregistered at sites like godaddy and namecheap.

And I can't go to the sites cpanel or anything.

Do I just need to wait a bit?

Did you actually register the domain name? If so, you'll have to wait 1-3 days most likely.

Yes, when you are setting up accounts in WHM you need to setup a domain at a registrar, like goDaddy.

Well yes. The domain needs to be registered to you or someone else. You then have to change that domains nameservers at the registar to the ones hostagator supplied you in the begining or your custom nameservers you set up.

Basically the same thing you did when you signed up for your hostgator account.
