I have had a reseller account with HostGator for over two years and was happy with HostGator until now. Yesterday I discovered that 19 of my 28 domains on HostGator are hijacked by HostGator's company-owned information.com so that when I enter the URL of any of the 19 domains into the browser, HostGator's own search portal, information.com comes up. When checking my Web Host Manager interface, each of the 19 domains shows the IP as "missing".
One support ticket, two chats and almost 12 hours later, the problem is still ongoing, with no reply to the support ticket and no estimate of a fix. To top it off, HostGator asks for a customer survey after the non-productive chat sessions while the problems still exist. WTF?!? I have client domains involved here! It's bad enough that this happened but for it to not be fixed some 8 hours after being notified about it, is unacceptable. If this has happened before to others (it has-search online), why wasn't the problem fixed before it happened again to me and probably to others? I think it is time for me to start looking at other hosting companies and definitely time to get out of the HostGator affiliate program. I can't recommend HostGator when this sort of security problem and significant downtime exists. I am very, very disappointed in HostGator. If this problem is not addressed and fixed VERY SOON, I will be giving very honest reviews of HostGator's support, reliability and security on various web hosting review sites so that others can make an informed decision about whether they should host their sites at HostGator. |

My problems with my HostGator account and domains have been resolved. The fix was accomplished the same day I requested support on it.
Thanks also to GatorBrent for following up and explaining what happened. I will stay with HostGator due to the predominantly good experience I've had and due to their attention and follow up on my recent and only trouble over my two years hosting with them. Even a good hosting company can stumble on occasion. It is the getting up and going again that makes the difference. So, go HostGator! |

If you have had many good quality years with Hostgator and then a problem occurs why are you so quick to shout them down? You hadn't even given them time to sort this problem out. Gee...
