I am new to web hosting, someone help me!!!

Hi Folks, I am new to website building. I have purchased a domain from hostgator and I am planning to use this site to promote my business. I need some help to know how to manage my website. I would like to know the following:

1) Is there a UI tool using which I can update my site, create new pages, links, edit my home page, etc? If there is one how do I get it & how do I use it?
2) When I try to open my site using its IP address provided by gator, I get a message on my browser saying there is no website registered on this IP or something like that? What does this mean? Do I have to do something to link my IP to my Domain? But my site does open when I type the domain name www.stairway2heaven.org
3) I am unable to ping to my site, it gives a request timed out

2) Your site doesn't have an IP address itself, so trying to view it by IP address will not work. You can try the IP address followed by /~username.

3) It is possible that you can't ping your site. The firewall may not respond to ping requests.

If you install Soholaunch Pro via Fantastico you can use that for building your site and updating it. I'd wait until finally updated to the newest Fantastico release as it has an updated Soholaunch that makes linking pages to the menu alot easier.
