Hi there,
I'm considering purchasing the aluminum reseller package, and I'd just like to ask a few questions. I haven't done anything like this before, to be honest I haven't even created a website! But I'm willing to learn. Firstly, could someone link me to a hostgator reseller website which has used the WHM.Autopilot. I just want to see how it works, as far as I am aware this is what will be used for billing? So just to confirm, this is how customers will order through my website? How will I get this billing system onto my website exactly? I'm just not too sure how it works. Secondly, with regards to the free website templates ...am I limited to the amount of templates I can use? Can my clients also use these templates? Lastly, will the aluminum package be able to accommodate 24 users (each with 1GB storage and 10GB bandwidth (I ask because I don't know the specification of the server). That's all I can think of right now, Thank you

Ok, thank you very much
![]() Another question, if someone could answer I'd appreciate it. With regards to templates, how do I edit them exactly? For example, I have downloaded a couple of templates from here: http://www.resellerguide.com/p/free-hosting-templates I have Dreamweaver and Photoshop Elements, I can edit text boxes through Dreamweaver, but what about the logos and that? For example, Hosting Company Template 7, where it says "Ritztech Hosting", I guess the image can't be edited and the text changed? Or can it? I'm sorry for the stupid questions. Cheers, Mehmet |

I haven't looked at the template you refer to, but the graphics for other templates I've looked at can't be handled with Photoshop Elements. If the recommended software says Photoshop 6+, they mean the fullscale Photoshop, not Photoshop Elements.

You'd have to have an image editing program that could opened the layered PSD file like Photoshop (or an old pre-Corel version of PSP) to change that layer then cut out the bit that ends up making up the file "logo.jpg". Barring that you could just edit the logo.jpg file in the image editing program of your choice but IMHO it'd be easier to modify the original layered file then save to web format.
There's talk of Gimp being able to handle some layered Photoshop file versions but there are hitches (including whether the image was created as CMYK rather than RGB which is all Gimp supposedly supports).

Fireworks will also normally do this.

Thank you all for your help.
I can open the template using Photoshop CS3. It does show all the layers and that. However I can't edit the text through photoshop. What is the best way of getting around this? |

When I say 'text' what I mean is the text on the actual image

if you have trouble working it out, you could also replace that layer with a new one and do your own text on the new layer....it's not clear what you're asking partiuclarly. if they give you layered photoshop file, you should be able to alter the text.

I looked at the file through PaintShopProv8 and that particular layer came out as raster, not vector - in other words you're not going to be able to edit the text directly. What I'm seeing could be a result of importing to PSP though.
If I ever remember to check when I'm at my home office I'll fire it up in PS and see what it looks like there.

It's me again, with another newbie question!
Once I have edited what I want to edit using photoshop, is there then a way to save all of the image files? Like... write over the old ones? So then when I run the .html file the updated version will show in the browser. Hope the question isn't too confusing, if it is let me know and I'll try explain it a different way. |

If the original author had used slices that would've been the easiest way to reproduce the individual portions of the file - I finally opened it in PS7 and there don't appear to be slices predefined. I'm not a PS expert so if anyone wants to correct me feel free - it looks like you've got two options:
(a) save-for-web the entire image, re-open the file you've saved and crop it to the image you're wanting to replace (b) use the slice tool to recreate the individual images (or just the one you want for that matter) and give them the appropriate names and file formats then use save-for-web to create the pieces - put everything in a temp dir rather than overwriting the original files though - that way you can qc yourself without erasing anything by accident
