Default All Servers Down?

I just got off the phone with support and apparently there is a problem with the DNS and "all of the servers are experiencing email issues". Is this true? Anyone care to share some information with us about what is going on?

I would also appreciate a response to this to let me know that these are back up and running as soon as possible.

Here is the error that I'm getting:

Task 'PO - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC67) : ' The server responded: 421 Too many concurrent SMTP connections; please try again later.'

Unfortunately we are experiencing issues with our DNS cache. This will cause your web site or SSH connections to load slow. We are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

The DNS caching cluster is performing properly now. We're going to migrate the machines back to our custom caching cluster at this time.

The internets main dns servers blocked one of our dns servers which caused the above problems. Were growing so fast and we get so much traffic they sometimes think were attacking them I guess......

This has been resolved a while ago. This is the first time we've seen them block one of our dns servers. We've had this issue in the past when we ran dns locally and it was solved by going to the dns cluster that is currently in use.

I gather this doesn't affect dedicated boxes, as I'm doing OK.

I'm getting the same issue, even smilies on my site take over 30 seconds to load.

This is three days now that there have been recurring issues with load times. Why is this taking so long to clear up?

Ticket IFX-2443248

I can understand a few hours of this, but this is day 3 now and we're still having problems? Hmm, might be time for me to start looking at a dedicated solution. Just not with Hostgator. :P

Dear HostGator:

Now might be a good time to submit a formal response to this thread. Something a little more than "we're workin' on it"; perhaps something in the lines of an explanation of exactly what is happening and what is being done about it. Just this man's two cents.

For me the solution to the problem has been to eliminate the deny rules in my .htaccess file. I had a LOT of deny rules due to comment spammers attacking my phpbb forums. The large number of rules had never been a problem before for 6 months prior, but *something* has recently changed, I don't know what (and apparently neither does HG*), and now processing of the deny rules REALLY slows down the sites.

*That's what HG told me

Now I'm getting bounce/failure messages whenever mails try to find their way into the Yahoo servers. Are these issues related?

I submitted ticket ABA-2453100 yesterday for this. They responded with a thank for notifying them and they are working with Yahoo to resolve. No updates since then.

The messages coming back say something like the following along with header information from the original message below it:

====================

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at gateway05.websitewelcome.com.

I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
