Default After downloading template

I decided not to go with the easy webbuilder offered through gatorhost and to take another step up in the web design world.

I found a flash template I liked and downloaded it to my desktop after following some instructions on another thread down below.

After doing that, what do I do to edit the template with my own information and publish it to the web?
Is using front page the way to go or should I use something else for editing, Is there an easier free program out there on the web?

How do I get the template from front page to the web? Do I add it to my cpanel somehow?

Sorry, I'm a little confused and new to anything beyond the easy website building tools.

thanks

If it's a flash template, then you will need Flash to edit it http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/

Thanks I'm glad to know that now.
I don't have adobe so I guess I'll use the non flash version of the template.

Besides the template,ie: http://templates.hostgator.com/show/...g/Don_Vito/472
it tells you the recommended software to use to edit it:ie:
Recommended Software: Adobe Photoshop 6+**
Macromedia Flash MX+**
HTML editors**
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004**
FrontPage 2003+

my biggest question then is:
How do I get the template from front page to the world wide web for people to see? Do I add the template from frontpage to my cpanel, then do something from there?

Basically, what's my next step after editing in front page?
thanks

You upload it using FTP-- I believe that functionality is built into Frontpage.

You upload your pages to the public_html folder of your site. The default page should be named index.html and that page will load by default.

There are several tutorials at http://www.hostgator.com/tutorials.shtml including tutorials for using FTP. You can set up FrontPage using the FTP information so that you can publish your site.

Ironhead,

There are two ways to do this. One way involves using an FTP application such as FileZilla. The other involves using the FTP capability built into FrontPage. Here's some info on how to do it via FrontPage:

(I'm going to assume you are using FrontPage 2003 and that you have your website open in it. If you have an earlier version of FrontPage, it may work a bit differently.)

Look down at the bottom of the window for a button that says "Remote Web site" and click on that.

You will see a message that tells you to look for a button "Remote Web Site Properties." You'll find that button in the top right area. Click on it.

Now you get a pop-up window with a set of radio button choices. Choose FTP.

Under "Remote Web site location:" enter ftp://yourdomain.com/public_html (substituting in your actual domain) and click "OK."

You will now be prompted for Name and Password. Enter the name and password for your HG account.

Now you get two windows. The one on the left shows the files on your local computer. The one on the right shows what's in your website folder on HG -- which initially will be a few things you don't have to worry about right now.

You want to copy some of the files and folders from the left window to the right window. DO NOT copy the folders that begin with an underscore (such as _vti_cnf). You want to copy over only the files and folders that are needed for your website to function.

The way you copy something is to click on it in the left window, then click on the arrow that points from left to right.

Hope this gives you the info you need.
