Default Affiliate sign up page not working in Opera

Your page for affiliates sign up:

http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/?_p=signup

Does not work with the Opera browser, the arrows at the bottom where you choose the payment method are not clickable.

So try a different browser, like firefox, internet explorer or safari.

And why would I risk my internet security and usability by using an inferior browser?

That's your choice. I'm just making the suggestion that if you want to use that page an alternative browser choice may assist you (less than 1% of people use opera).

There is a way around this, Hostgator can get their HTML right and make the page compatible with Opera, it should't be so difficult IMO.

Of course until that is done I can use the default Windows IE to use the page but this is not an ideal solution, specially as I dont think it is Opera's browser fault the reason why the page is not working, it seems like an HTML coding problem.

That is true that a very small percentage of internet users use Opera but the unfortunate fact is... is he is right. If someone wants to use Opera, they should not be forced to use a different browser to accomplish their goal.
I code most of everything to work with all browers. One of our previous programmers have made that page. I agree it should work with Opera. I believe there is some AJAX on that page and Opera handles AJAX a little differently than other browsers. I will take a look at it and see what I can do in the meantime.

A good note is that a new affiliate system and billing system are in the works right now to replace the "ugly" current one. Drew, our head backend developer, is hard at work developing these new systems and we will not only make sure it works in Opera but we will make sure it works with almost every type of browser out there. Everyone will know when the new system is released.

I am sorry once again for that page not working in Opera but in a little time, we will have a much better affiliate system / billing system.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Brian, I was actually only making a suggestion so that Hostgator is aware of this problem to have this into account during future revisions of that page, I am not demmanding anything, specially as the site is usable with other browsers.

I totally agree with this statement, however, I do not believe that striddy was trying to imply that. I thought the OP was trying to sign up and wanted a solution and that is what striddy was trying to do. Offer a solution at this moment.

So now we know the OP was just trying to bring it to HG's attention and am glad that they did.

Not trying to speak for, or stick up for Striddy, just wanted Brian to understand that what he had said was not really what striddy was trying to do IMO.

Thanks skeetr. That was exactly the point of my post. If the OP wanted to sign up for an affiliate account and start earning, then I just wanted to suggest an immediate solution. From personal experience, I know that altering code to make it work with multiple browsers can take some time. Also as this post occurred on the weekend, I didn't necessarily think any web coding gators would be around to fix it on the spot.

Hopefully the OP has been able to sign up as he wished.
