Advice wanted - online phone directory.

I would like to create something like an online phone directory for businesses, with optional links and a small graphic. Is there a CMS, or something else that would be more appropriate for me to start with?

Have you tried Google??? There are hundreds of apps but can not recommend a specific one. Have seen people use PHPLD for something similar, so you could check that out.

I have run online directories for years and one script i found to be pretty good and easy to change the layout is from linkenginepro (do a google search for it), Has loads of good points, They have a online demo.

It used to be a free script but now the webmaster charges for it

I will also recommend you the tip of "hostmydomain" because the CMS sometimes to much tricky to handle.
