Default Advice please

Hi,

I bought a package showing youtube videos.

I was looking at the Hostgator Baby web hosting, however, also looking at the reseller hosting just in case I'll annoy the neighbours. (I'll only be the client)

Of course, I don't know what my traffic will be like.

And besides, I'm aware it's youtubes bandwidth that will be used

So, is the Baby web hosting sufficient for this and not annoy other clients or should I go for aluminum reseller?

Appreciate your answers.

thanks

The reseller packages are still on shared servers. So, all the same limitations are in place. To be on your own server you need to get a dedicated server.

It's hard to say if you'll be within the limitations without more details and knowing traffic, however, letting youtube host the videos instead of yourself will certainly save a lot of bandwidth and resources.

Thanks slapshotw

In the package the baby webhosting was shown as a sample.

It's just that reading some pre-sale queries .... kind of best to steer away from overloading shared resources.

But as you said, reseller is still on shared server.

So guess I'll start small, observe and upgrade as needed.

Thanks for your support.

Id like to also mention,
That reseller shared environments are "Worse" then the normal shared environments on average.

As there may be 500-800 accounts on a shared server,
And there may be 100-200 account on a reseller shared server and each of them having 10 clients on average.

Hi,

Just made my order and chose the "unlimited bandwidth" one (swamp)

That should ease my mind. As a newbie, I don't want additional thoughts

of receiving 'love letters' from my server.

Now I got to sort this cpanel thing.

Good luck to me.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Unless you got these numbers from an official HG source, they're pure speculation. Experience reading this forum hasn't shown the reseller servers to be any "worse" than shared. And as has been discussed many times in the past, the # of accounts does not have a direct relationship to if your Hostgator server is too bogged down. 99% of the time, the problems are coming from a single user.
