Default Advice on Large File storage needed

I will be accepting uploaded video files on my site. My understanding is that Host Gator, my host, has a 2mb limitation with a way to actually get 10mb files stored. Since video files are generally quite large. this will not work. I have found some companies, ie. Badango, actually are set up for the storage of large files with what they say is unlimited storage.

Does Host Gator have some kind of file storage plan? Has anyone had experience with this or have found another way to save large files?

Thanks.

Using FTP, you can upload as large a file as you like.

If you're accepting uploaded video files, be careful about HG's terms of service. You can't store files to which you don't own the copyright. And you can't store files that aren't actually being used for a website. In other words, just setting up some kind of file-sharing site is not permitted.

Excellent point. All videos will be original and legal however. No unauthorized or copyrighted material allowed.

I just found out there is a 64m limit using the business plan which may be enuf, and then as you suggest, FTP if larger is needed.

I would rather stay with HG and I am already set up for file upload.

Thanks.

Best way is to go with a VPS or Dedicated Server where you can set your own limits... Also in Shared & Reseller Hosting some limits are applicable which may prevent you from uploading files...

Even so, I will still go with FTP when it comes to video file sharing or anything related to uploading large file size. It is also convenient to use.
