Addon Domains and Scripts....?

I understand that when you use an addon domain you set it up in a directory within your main account directory, and that it works and looks just like a normal domain and site to the user/customer. Right?
So, now what about if you want to say install a Forum, or some other such thing for that "particular" addon website? Can you install it within the particular addon website and it will still look and work like it's from THAT website and not your main domain site account?
By the way, I'm scared with all the recent problems, but hostgator seems professional enough, so I suppose I can still go ahead and sign up? Will my Cpanel be fully updated from the moment I sign up, or will I however have to update it myself? Thanks

Right. In fact you should NOT create the directory, when you add the addon domain the directory will be created.

Yes, there is no difference.

If you are in a shared server HG staff will take care of all the updates cPanel needs.

Thank you... I usually got Reseller hosting before to host my domains so I could have full individual control of my sites, but, I don't think I really need that, and I need to pay less right now.

That's all I needed to know. Hopefully Hostgater will be satisfactory for the moment.
