Addon domain redirect help please

I have looked here for answers but nothing is working.
I have a site abc.com and an addon def.com, both are working fine.
I want to redirect people from def.com to def.com/forum but it isn't working. I get a message that the redirect failed. I don't know if I entered something wrong or in the wrong spot on my cpanel.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

What did you enter into cpanel that you think might have been wrong?

Okay, so go into Cpanel, go to Domains, Redirects. Then add a redirect:
Type: Permanent (301)
Then select the def.com domain.
then type what you want it to redirect to www.def.com/forum
Then check mark "redirect with or without www"
And then click ADD

I just redirected my domain to www.google.com with no problems.

Try adding a / on the end of the desired redirection.

it adds it for you automatically when you leave it blank

I don't know what I did wrong. I went to addon domains and did the redirect from there. It is working now.
