Default Additional Domain .htaccess settings

I am just in the process of porting my sites across from another host, where I got hacked last week. Not the reason for moving - I purchased this account in October. Anyway back to the plot...

I have some of my domains registered on Hostgator, but cannot access them without having to manually add the index.php or index.htm file.

For example, I cannot access www.lenscopy.com but I can access www.lenscopy.com/index.htm

Yesterday I installed Bulletproof Security, a Wordpress plugin, on my top level domain, and I am pretty sure that has stripped off the code I had for my other domains to point them correctly.

Bulletproof Security also recomended I change the access on the folders, so .htaccess is now 404 not 644, and most folders are 705 not 755. This doesn't appear to be the problem though.

Could someone please help me with adding what I need to the new (and big!) .htaccess file so I can get my domains working. Once the basics are in place I have about 6 new Wordpress installs to make and to copy data across from the old site (having hopefully left the infection behind).

Thanks in advance.
I haven't posted the .htaccess here just in case.

Default Re: Additional Domain .htaccess settings

You will want to put a DirectoryIndex in the begining of your .htaccess file. Make it the very first line. Using your example:
Quote:
For example, I cannot access www.lenscopy.com but I can access www.lenscopy.com/index.htm
It would look like this:
Code:
DirectoryIndex index.htm
You can find more info here: http://support.hostgator.com/article...irectory-index
Hope this helps!
