Unhappy Add On Domain Question

Hi,

I have set up an addon domain, and put html pages in it's subdomain folder with an index file called index.html.

When I put the domain (E.G www.myaddon.com) or subdomain (E.G www.addon.mainHGdomain.com) URL into the broswer I get -

''Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. '' If i try say www.myaddon.com/index.html it will display the page fine. How do I get the site to run from index.html from just the domain? Do I need to do a redirect too? or put an .htaccess file in the folder? Please Help, Main domain working fine, and I'm loving HostGator! John

No, you are not supposed to do redirecting or use a .htaccess file, it should work just like that...
however if there is a .htaccess file in the root of the main domain it affects the addon domain also.
I suggest you ask HG support to take a look...

Hi,

Yep there is an htaccess file in the root. I'll ask the Hg support people tomorrow.

I guess a redirect setup to www.addondomain.com/index.html would work, but might upset search engines.

Thanks.

John
