Okay, lets say I setup an addon domain, www.addon.com, on my main domain, we'll call it www.maindomain.com.
Now, when anyone pulls up www.addon.com, they will go to www.addon.com, and what will they see in the address bar? Will they see www.addon.com, or will they see addon.maindomain.com? The way I think it should work is that people will see www.addon.com as they navigate through the site. On my last host that used cPanel, I had to set up a redirect on the addon domain and so the URL changed. If I didn't have the redirect, any accesses to www.addon.com just got www.maindomain.com's page. And when I set up the redirect, it changed it to www.maindomain.com/addon. In fact, using subdomains, it did the same thing. Without the redirect, it went to main page, and with the redirect, it changed the URL. This just doesn't seem right to me. The documentation doesn't say that you have to set up a redirect, but after I added the extra domain, I waited a week and it never worked. It just wnet to the main domain's index page. So now I'm on HostGator and was wondering how it is really supposed to work, because I could never get that answered at my last host. Thanks |

What you'll do is setup an addon domain like www.addon.com on the subdirectory addon with no password. That'd work. Just make sure not to do a redirect with it. For an example http://www.legend-core.com/index/ and http://tronicstar.com/ are the same thing. www.tronicstar.com is on the directory index. =D
