Is anyone else having trouble with incoming emails taking days to deliver?
support ticket [#VAV-318221]: Ongoing email delays on acura server I have a customer complaining that for the last 2 weeks some incoming emails are taking 1-2 days to deliver. I sent the headers from one message showing that the acura server received the message on 8-29-07 at 8:04am and delivered it 8-31-07 at 14:58pm, 2 1/2 days later. Hostgator's explanation for the problem is that this message was part of a batch of more than 10 messages received in a single smtp connection and as such it was not processed for immediate delivery, but was placed in a queue for later delivery. And their "solution" was "don't do that". I use an outside spam and virus filtering service and all incoming email for my customers is processed by their servers first, then sent to the acura server. I'm not sure how many times messages are received in batches more than 10, but for about two years it hasn't been an ongoing problem. Should I think this has been a temporary problem or should I expect this problem to continue? |
