Hi all. Is anyone else having a problem with Acura? I've been trying to work with HG and it's been almost three hours since I've last heard from them. I've been trying different fixes and have sent possible ideas to them but no response. I'm hoping a lack of a response signals that they're working on the issue.
After reading some of the other posts, I'm wondering if it's not a server issue but, instead a network issue. Whatever it is, I hope it gets resolved soon as I planned on putting a lot of work into my sites on my "once-in-a-blue-moon" day off tomorrow. Thx much, in advance, for any info anyone might provide. Regards, Kory |

Why does HG suspend an account and force the account owner to contact them without notifying the owner that there's an issue with the account? I was told that my databases are using too many of the server's resources. I understand that and will certainly take appropriate measures to correct it.
But, instead of letting me know so I can act accordingly, my account is suspended and I'm treated like a criminal. I thought I've been a good customer but perhaps not. I'm done. Regards, Kory |

They have a choice to make - Sit there, server under extreme load, waiting for you to receive the notification and, maybe, resolve it. Or they suspend your account, restoring service to however many other customers were on the server, inconveniencing you and you alone until you fix the problem.
Personally, if I were on that server, and your account were causing my account and x other customer's accounts problems, I'd want your account to be suspended, rather than all of our's while waiting for you to resolve the problem. |

Well, apparently, it wasn't not a database issue and the latest word I received is that HG wasn't sure why my account was suspended. Fortunately, my account is no longer suspended. Unfortunately, possible internal miscommunication might have affected my credibility.
I agree with you to a point, Rendus. I understand if an account is affecting all the other 1,029 sites on that server then, by all means, it should be suspended. However, I still believe a notification should be sent to the account owner, even if the account must be suspended and the email is sent after the suspension. To not say anything at all will most likely kill any business relationship, IMHO. Thx much for your input. Regards, Kory |

One of my core account was also suspended last thursday without notification because of a "busy site and too much dynamic content". I was told to "get a dedicated server or change all the content to static content". Having 30 simultaneous users online for a vbulletin board doesn't count as high load to me, but they refused to investigate further. I ran a couple of my own tests and found that the load flew up through the roof even though I only had a few users online. The same number of users were online when the load was low. Anyway, I respect their decision and moved that account to another host, and it's doing fine there.
The suspension resulted in a serious impact on my business (some people actually depend on websites hosted here for bread and butter you know) but I guess it's better to suspend anyone who MIGHT be causing the problem until the server stabilizes. What's a few sacrifices if it might resolve the issue? Even after my account has been suspended, I am still seeing very high load (the load is still the same) on the server throughout the weekend and was experiencing crashes a short while back (today). I suspect that the problem lies elsewhere and they're just cutting off customers and hoping that the server stabilizes. Anyway, I do hope that the Acura issue is investigated further even though everyone seems to be tearing their hair out over Supra. I still have many clients on that machine and I don't want them questioning the downtime. PS: It might be a mysql, hard disk issue, or a cron job Peace. Just to add: I still find the customer service very quick in responding to day to day issues, and am tempted to get a dedicated server because of this. This will resolve all issues I have with shared hosting where others are killing the server.
I just wish that the "when things go wrong" scenerios are handled better. Eg, with better communication to the user and more COURTESY. Brent, I understand your position about not being able to host the site, but I do wish that your tone did come across as "pack up and get lost", like it did. Something along the lines of "We're sorry but we've found that your website is causing frequent crashes on the server and we will not be unable to host it anymore unless you get a dedicated server" when you suspend the account will be nice, instead of simply suspending it without any notification. |

There is certainly a problem with Acura as of approx 30th-31st December. I suspect some changes have taken place on this server and is causing some load problems. Nearly every time I go to "Service Status" I get:
cppop (failed) imap (failed) spamd (failed) Server Load 19.9 (currently, but is averaging from 20-48 each time I look) Accordingly, page load times are unacceptably slow which is very frustrating when you are standing with a potential customer "showing" them something and the pages are taking 20-30 seconds to load. Additionally, on the 31st I spent about 5 hours diagnosing a problem on my site which led me to notifying Hostgator that something had changed and was wrong in their php.ini settings, specifically: session.cookie_path was set to /tmp instead of / This was causing me quite a headache on all of my Mambo based sites. Finally, I had one of their admins change it for me. Now though, I was having another problem where a new php session would be created each time a new page was loaded. These people who's sites have been suspended.. I don't think their sites are causing problems so much to say that something in the configuration of the server has changed (possibly the 4.3.10 php upgrade?), or something else that is causing the server load to ramp up very high. Have you check the second hard drive / raid controller? It would be wise to do so, especially if Acura was purchased around the same time as Supra from the same manufacturer.. |

Just hope Acura didn't catch the flu that Supra had. ![]() BTW, I'm also a reseller; just can't update my own profile (I started out with a BabyCroc account). Thx much for the feedback, salubrium. Regards, Kory |
