This is correct. The backups are being restored at different parts of the alphabet.

We were seeing high loads on the server and dropped this back down to two restore processes running. With higher loads and less restore processes running it may take longer to restore than earlier estimated. We are constantly monitoring loads and the restores on this server and will do everything possible to get these accounts restored as fast as possible.

Any update Host Gator? I have some domains and e-mails working now, but some not at all.... and I can't access my WHM.

PLEASE give us an update whethet you are 100% done so we can submit tickets. You say as fast as possible and that's great, but we need a time frame. Yesterday we were told this morning it would all be good.

If that is the case why has my primary domain which was up yesterday & starts with the letter "e" back down again.

Not one single domain of mine is now up!

The "E", "I", "N", & "L" domains that finally came up yesterday are all down at the moment.

This is simply not good enough.

What is happening???

some of my sites that were up beginning with P are now down, server is VERY slow, some sites work some don't, some emails work some don't.
They are making slow progress though

Yeah, possibly, as my main domain & some others are back up now - running slow as a two-legged dog though.

It also looks as if some site are getting missed.

One of my longest running sites "spashesofjoy.com.au" (account name starts with "s") is still not up despite some of mine starting with "T" & "V" being up.

I have logged an email with support to see why?

This is the most hap-hazzard disaster recovery I have ever seen.

Sites that were up yesterday go down.

My main site (which starts with "e") is now up again - but all emails are down.

Other sites which were up yesterday are now down.

Some other sites which were not up yesterday are now up.

What the hell are these HG guys doing?

Hey people, let's use some common sense here. We all know how many resources (network file copying, extraction, DB queries, mail server requests, DNS changes, etc., etc.) it is taking this server to restore all of these accounts. Let's review UNIX server loads: http://www.luv.asn.au/overheads/NJG_...luvSlides.html. Like was jokingly suggested earlier, if people would stop connecting to the server, this process would complete sooner. Many of my sites are going up and down too. If you look in cPanel or WHM under Server Status, you can see the crazy high loads.

And yes, if HG doesn't change their practices for DNS, RAID, backup/restore procedures in the future, I will likely look for a new host. I can appreciate hardware failing, hard disks corrupting, etc., but this is completely unacceptable. And hard drives don't just fail all of a sudden. If people would have actually been reviewing the system logs, maybe some of this could have been detected days or weeks earlier. But what's been done (or not been done) has already happened, and we can't go back and fix the past. How can anyone expect this server to be performing normally under these circumstances? After these processes complete, we can submit tickets and fix problems caused by the restore.

Who knows? Maybe it would be better to pull the whole server offline and just completely load the server with the restore processes. We wouldn't be complaining about it going up and down (it would just stay down until it's all done ).

The r's are currently being restored at this time.

We are making good progress with the restores and expect them to be fully completed within the next few hours. It is extremely hard to estimate a more specific completion time but more and more accounts are coming online every few minutes.

Again I think it's random alpha restore now due to multiple resotres going on. So the A-Z thing is gone, don't even bother. All my domains are random.

All my R sites are up, and one from the T collection. ALL emails are down on ALL of my accounts. But all of my sites are up. Anyone else experiencing this?

It might be best if we all stayed off the servers as much as possible.

have the same prob. here on 18+ accounts....I am sure they know about it.

HOSTGATOR STAFF -

most of my accounts are up but NONE of the e-mails are working, I cannot login into webmail with any of them, even for accounts that were restored with the "A"'s on Tuesday.

Is this just part of the process or is this just my account?

Can you explain what is happening with e-mails during this whole process?
