It's actually up but a few services have died on it. You can login to Cpanel & WHM still but apache is not serving pages and mysql has died. Most worrying is that none of my email accounts are showing up in Cpanel as though they have been deleted - gone missing

I spoke to Live chat - but told me to email support - has anyone else done it yet?

I hope that statement doesn't mean you're waiting to email them. You should get a ticket in ASAP.

A drive on acura is failing it looks like. It has bad blocks and keeps requiring us to do fsck's. We are working on getting the bad drive replaced while maintaining file integrity.

Hi

Is there an update for this server, I have clients who are getting a bit vocal. They understand failures but won`t accept a lack of being kept informed as to progress.

thanks

For me it looks like its fine atm. Maybe a little bit slow but nothing really noticably. Good work on letting us know what was happening, its appreciated. More info is always good.

Unfortunately it doesn`t appear to be fine.

I have a number of sites which are not available e.g www.gcph.co.uk and also a number of sites which appear to have lost some account info. e.g. contact email, web stats etc.

Not entirely sure whats happening but it would appear to be not entirely fixed at the moment.

As many of you know Acura's primary drive had some corruption which led to the second drive being corrupted on that RAID array. We detached the RAID as soon as we became aware of this, but unfortunately it looks like damage was already done.

Roughly 60-70% of the inodes are still working. Whatever could be salvaged from the /home partition, we tried to recover, but it looks like we're going to need to restore from backups. The server is up and running and during this entire proces we've had our backup server generating these backups.

We'll keep everyone updated through this thread.

I talked to Hostgator and they are almost finished. I'm badly effected, it sucks, but these things happen.

I really hope they are finishing soon as it's going bonkers over here, some sites that were up and running before went down again.

We have completed the drive swap in Acura and we are currently restoring the backups that were previously generated. We do not have an ETA of when this will be completed. We will continue to update this thread as we get more information.

Hostgator staff - it says that you are monitoring this thread. If so...

It would be helpful if you could offer an hourly update to all of us on the acura server. having this down on a Monday may have been unavoidable but it is a crisis for many of our customers, please show some understanding and just offer updates, that is all we have and that is all we can offer OUR customers.

Just like when your flying and you have a massive delay, just hearing from the agents the STATUS makes the delay bearable, but not hearing updates at all makes a bad situation worse.

Thanks,

Jac

I agree. It's now been over three hours since we heard from any HG staff.

HostGator have never, ever, been good at keeping their clients (us resellers) informed at all.

I have hammered this point continually - but to no avail. They seem totally incapable of the common courtesy of keeping us informed.

I agree too!

The DNS MX stuff in particular is killing business, shouldn't that portion be accross different servers?

In case it helps anyone, it looks like some of my sites are coming back ... and they may be in alphabetical order .... perhaps the restore is running that way? if so they appear to be up to at least the D's

Patience is the key, I think.

We are now a little over 30% completed with all backup restores. The DNS zone files are created when the account is restored.

I will attempt to post every hour with updates on the restores.
