I didn't open a ticket.
What shall I write? "The server is down"???? Hostgator must see this and works on it, not me! |

You should submit a ticket whenever your server is down, or at least let live chat know.

That is correct letting us know when your server is down and submitting a ticket then and there will help us alot in determining what exactly the issue is.

I can confirm that the support page is giving a blank page as soon as I log in to send in a ticket.
I tried first in Minefield, switched to the current Firefox (2.0.0.12) then Safari (3.0.4).. no go in any. Both Firefox and Minefield show a blank page (nothing in source either) and Safari says: "Safari can’t open the page. Safari can’t open the page “https://tickets.hostgator.com/login/process” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later." Edit: Now when I try (at https://secure.hostgator.com/billing/index.php ) it says my password is incorrect. A few minutes ago (I'm pretty sure that was the url) it redirected me to https://tickets.hostgator.com/login/process and showed the above errors. Also at https://tickets.hostgator.com/login/process username and password are showing (clear and unencrypted) in the headers... that feels wrong. (seen using Live HTTP Headers extension for Firefox). I've increased some of the Apache limits and made some changes on tickets.hostgator.com. Can you guys check and see if you're still getting blank pages? I can't replicate it at all on my end. Thanks!

Works fine for me.
Back to the original problem. It looks like you are using external monitoring to see if the site is up. It appears that the program isn't simply checking the site to see if it is up, it appears to be reading the page. What is happening is that the check is failing because it is being blocked. (See the 500 errors). I suspect the site is actually up, but can't be monitored that way. |

Hi everyone,
I just signed up for a new reseller account a few hours ago and couldn't access the ticket system either. I was also receiving a blank page using Firefox and it also wouldn't work with IE either. I ended up sending HostGator an e-mail ticket letting them know. Anyhow, the problem ended up being that the ticket system needed to verify my e-mail address and I was also e-mailed a password in which I was able to log into the ticket system with. Once I was in the ticket system I was able to change my password and all is well now with no problems. Take care, - Bones |

I've reviewed this. Basically your site's index.php script is taking too long to execute combined with the fact that you do have a decent number of visitors. Check the CPU statistics and time it's taking your script(just your index.php page) to run :
0.48user 0.15system 0:01.50elapsed 42%CPU 0.49user 0.14system 0:02.59elapsed 24%CPU 1.21user 0.17system 0:05.31elapsed 26%CPU 0.50user 0.16system 0:01.62elapsed 40%CPU 0.50user 0.14system 0:02.24elapsed 28%CPU Notice your index page is taking 1.5seconds to 5+ seconds per run, you need to optimize your page, trim down some of the data it returns, or move to a dedicated server. When you have a sudden surge of traffic you're going to hit the 25 php process limit and get the internal server errors. Not much else I can say, this is not an issue with the server itself.
