2 questions

Hi all,

I have two questions I couldn't find answers to in the forum.

1: How many IP Adresses do I get on a reseller account (current host gives me 5)

2: Does HostGator allow overselling ?

First: Overselling - Fortunately, HG does not allow overselling. If they did, I would be somewhere else. Overselling is like a dog chasing its tail and leads to major problems.

If I'm not mistaken, you get one IP address with a reseller accont. Additional IP addresses cost $2.00 per month.

Hi Jeff,

Thank's for the answers, would you care to explain why you see overselling as a problem ? If I sold all my available space in different packages but most of my customers use only 20% of it, why should I pay for more when I am in fact not using 80% of what I already have ?

overselling vs not overselling is a long argument, and has ben explored before on these forums and wht. Rest assured that HG will not change their point of view, as for them, the stability of their servers is of paramount importance, and rightly so.

If you're a reseller you do not get an IP address. Unless ofcourse you're on a dedicated server in which you get five to start with. As for overselling, HG does not allow this.

You will be placed on a shared IP when you create your reseller account, you can then purchase dedicated IP's for 2 dollars a month.

Hi. Just thought I would mention that the above referenced page has quite a few misspellings and all of the ' seem to be turned into ? marks, at least for me.

Yea, had to set "character encoding" to "ISO-8859-1", then it shows right.

I mean I had to set it in my Firefox, View-> Charecter encoding

Thank's for letting me know, I will report that to our webmaster. Seems to be a problem on the page as I get it too.
